桂丹諾（Sidney Greidanus），自阿姆斯特丹自由大學獲得神學博士學位（Th.D., Free University in Amsterdam），加爾文神學院（Calvin Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan）講道學榮休教授。1990年起任加爾文神學院講道學教授，之前曾牧養基督徒改革宗教會（Christian Reformed Church），並任教於加爾文學院（Calvin College ）與君王學院（King’s College），被形容為「在基於聖經講道方面，現今最重要、最有影響力的學者之一」。除本書外，著有《從釋經到講道》、《從創世記傳講基督》、《從傳道書傳講基督》、與《從但以理書傳講基督》，都正由美國麥種傳道會翻譯出版中。
