邦森是美國信正長老會(OPC)的牧師，也是南加州基督教研究中心的全職駐校學者。

他是一位出色的學者、作家和辯論家，廣泛地寫作和教導有關護學和聖經律法的課題。

由於終生疾病纏身，邦森不得不在1995年接受心臟手術，但隨後出現嚴重的併發症，

不幸於1995年12月過世，享年47歲。
