本釋經書最大的特點是，作者在 “ 當代應用 ” 部分，與讀者分享他在多年牧養經歷中聽過的精彩見證。而宣教士在落後地區經歷的奇聞異事，也在作者輕鬆活潑的筆觸下躍然呈現。在 “ 應用原則 ” 部分中，作者又善於將經文與當代信徒常遭遇的景況相類比，從中提煉出一些永恆的屬靈原則，激勵信徒在生活中實踐出來。
